In fact, family relationships continue to be the most important influence throughout the school age years. Encouraging and supporting friendships in children is a great way to help them develop important life skills including tolerance, empathy, care and compassion, problem solving and negotiation. This is also an important time when children are exploring their own self-identity and finding ways to express this.
