Movement, mobility and function

Children aged 3 to 6 learn and refine motor skills, and develop confidence moving around.

Children with cerebral palsy and similar conditions usually continue to learn and refine motor skills until age 7. Improving movement, mobility and function is important before they start primary school.

At this age children learn to be more independent; using household objects and moving on different surfaces. They take part in a range of activities for fun, fitness and function. Some children learn to use walking frames or wheelchairs.
