CPA joins forces with Swimming Australia for Swim Camp

Cerebral Palsy Alliance recently joined forces with Swimming Australia and Sport Australia to hold our fourth annual Swim Camp.

Held in June at the Sydney Academy of Sport, the Swim Camp focuses on achieving goals in fitness, fun and friendships, learning skills, developing trust and engagement.

Opportunities are created to make social and support connections, addressing the social isolation often experienced by children with disabilities and their families.

A total of 34 children attended the camp, including 18 children from rural areas - children with disabilities living remotely often have limited opportunities to participate in sport, and providing opportunities for these kids is a major focus.

Caitlin Keefe has organised four CPA camps so far, with the most recent camp being supported by the help of the Swimming Australia Move it Aus grant.

Jack, one of the CPA athletes, thinks swimming is a great way to keep physically fit and mentally fit as well.

"It's a good way to just blow off some steam and relieve all that stress when you are in the pool".
