Amy Sharkey

Amy Sharkey
Position: Manager for Orange and Dubbo (shared role with Scott Thompson)

What Amy enjoys most about her work is supporting clients to communicate with their families and other people in a range of different ways.

The Cerebral Palsy Alliance supports her to do this in several ways, including ensuring she can offer assistive technologies, in particular augmentative and alternative communication.

Amy places a great deal of importance on collaborating with families and other health professionals during the assessment process in order to provide the best intervention approach possible.

She has found that working in a regional office means she sees clients of all ages who have a variety of conditions, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorder. This keeps her professionally challenged and allows her to use a wide-range of intervention approaches to suit each client’s needs.

In addition, the team at CPA Dubbo is able to work together to help clients and their families navigate the NDIS and get the best possible supports they need to reach their goals.
