Planning and Cerebral Palsy

We are interested in how adults with CP use planning to solve problems and how planning is related to beliefs about one’s decision.

Who can participate?

Adults meeting inclusion criteria below will be eligible to participate in the study:

  • Aged from 18 to 45 years old
  • Diagnosed with cerebral palsy
  • No other disability diagnoses (e.g. Down Syndrome) or any other progressive or neurodegenerative disorders or primary genetic disorders not associated with CP
  • English as fluent language
  • Able to communicate through spoken language or communication aids
  • Typical visual acuity and hearing abilities (have normal or corrected vision and hearing)
  • Has access to Internet, laptop or personal computer for access to Zoom and have a web camera and microphone (standard on most laptops/personal computers)

What does it involve?

  • You will complete an initial telephone screening interview to confirm eligibility for the study.
  • After eligibility is confirmed, you will solve some reasoning puzzles and complete some questionnaires about yourself across one or two testing sessions.
    • You can choose to participate in the session via Zoom or in-person, depending on your preference.
    • In-person testing will take place in one of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s service sites.
    • The testing session on Zoom will not be recorded.
  • Each testing session is expected to take around 1 hour.
  • If appropriate, you will be contacted for the second session after the first session is completed.
