Nicole works at Packforce, a warehouse which has been providing assembly and packaging services for over 50 years. Nicole loves her work there and always turns up with a smile on her face, ready for a chat with colleagues and manager Damien. Having financial independence is everything to Nicole, and her employment allows her pursue many interests, which she somehow manages to fit into her busy life.
Nicole’s passions and interests include music and dancing. She loves a party and so do her housemates. Nicole lives in a CPA Support Independent Living house on Sydney’s northern beaches where she’s made really close friendships with other residents and support workers. In fact, they’re like one big happy family who love to celebrate, entertain and kick up their heels. Nicole is a bit of a foodie, and she loves to bake cakes and sumptuous afternoon teas, with the help of Disability Support Practitioner, Alice. Nicole says her house is better than Master Chef! There’s always something amazing on the menu.
One thing Nicole is really thankful for is the close relationship she shares with her mum. Even though she doesn’t live nearby they talk a lot, and all the families of residents get together regularly and are really involved in their lives.
House Manager Karen ensures Nicole gets to all her activities and appointments on time, including hydrotherapy at CPA which she loves. Nicole’s face lights up when she’s in the water with her Disability Support Practitioner, Alice, you wouldn’t know it’s therapy though as she loves it. Together they work on a swim program which helps Nicole to gain strength and confidence.
Now she’s ready to for her next goal: learning to surf. Nicole can’t wait to wear her new wetsuit and take on the waves on her new board, supported by the Disabled Surfers Association.
