PRAIRIEWOOD – Gross Motor Skills Program – July School Holidays

Our Therapy team will be running the Gross Motor Skills program for children aged 7 - 14 years.

This program is a great way for kids to learn new skills and play a variety of modified games such as cricket, netball, AFL, basketball, hockey and more.

Throughout the week, participants have an opportunity to try a range of sports for the first time, as well as learn and refine new sporting skills

DATES: Tues/Wed/Thur both weeks of the July School holidays ( 4th-6th and 11th-13th July) 

SESSION TIMES: 9.30am - 11.30am

LOCATION: Cerebral Palsy Alliance - Prairiewood - 224/244 Restwell Rd Prairiewood

    VOLUNTEER ROLE

    • Our Therapy team needs 1 volunteer per session  to help with all aspects of the sports program
    • Work with clients to improve their individual skills and feel more confident joining a mainstream sporting team
    • Tasks include setting up and packing down equipment, help run games and activities, and of course, joining in on all the sporting action! 
    • No experienced required - ideal for Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, or Occupational Therapy Students 
    • Please note due to the on-going COVID-19 situation, you may be required to wear a mask which will be provided to you.

    As a Gross Motor Skills volunteer, you'll be helping our Therapy team to deliver a fun and engaging program that enables participants to:

    • learn basic skills of different sports in a dynamic group
    • play a range of modified games in every sport
    • practice taking instructions and applying their new skills in a group environment
    • meet new friends 
    • improve their individual skills and feel more confident joining a mainstream sporting team

    NOTE - COVID-19 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    Visitors to CPA sites are required to comply with our safe working/volunteering protocols including:

    • Revised sign in procedures for all visitors and staff including temperature checks and screening 
    • Up to date Covid vaccination including booster within 6 months of second dose
    • Practice physical distancing as per guidelines provided
    • Restricted visitor numbers per site (to ensure physical distancing can be safely followed)
    • Single entry and exit point per site
    • Additional personal hygiene and cleaning responsibilities for all visitors and staff to follow
    • All Staff and Volunteers will be asked to wear a mask (which will be supplied) whilst in a client-facing program or role
