ALLAMBIE – Hydrotherapy (2021)

Hydrotherapy is a fun and engaging way for children with disabilities to improve their water confidence, strength, fitness, balance and coordination.

If you enjoy being in the water, value inclusion, and have great communication skills, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Hydrotherapy volunteer, you will be in the pool providing one-to-one support for a child with a physical and/or intellectual disability.

 

PROGRAM DETAILS

This program is run during school term. Volunteers are not required during school holidays.

 

DATE:  Thursdays from 4 February, 2021

TIME:   10.45am for 11am start. Program ends 12 Noon

LOCATION:   Captain Ron Patrick Hydrotherapy Pool, Cerebral Palsy Alliance – 187 Allambie Road, Allambie Heights

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As a volunteer program assistant, you will:

  • support our Health and Wellbeing team implement an exercise program tailored to the needs of each participant
  • help our clients to float, relax and work their way through a gentle hydro pool session
  • be fully assisted by our Health and Wellbeing staff.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Be available weekly (preferred) or fortnightly for a minimum of 6 months
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills (i.e. like to have fun!)
  • Have an interest in improving the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend an Induction session prior to your start date
  • Complete two on-line training modules ‘Disability Aware’ and ‘Back Yourself’
  • Undertake a Working with Children and Police Check
  • Attend a Work, Health & Safety's Pool Training session
  • Comply with CPA’s COVID-19 safe working guidelines.
