Early Childhood Intervention

We support babies and children to build stronger foundations for better learning and development

Finding the right therapy at the right time

Your child is born with 100 billion neurons in their brain. At CPA, we know how to point them in the right direction.
Research shows that getting access to intervention as early as possible will give a child their best chance of learning, regardless of the condition or diagnosis. Fortunately, we have access to a growing library of research that identifies which therapies work, which ones don’t, and how much of the right therapy is needed to really make a difference.
We support babies and children with a range of physical and neurological conditions to build stronger foundations for better learning and development. We led one of the world’s largest early intervention clinical trials to improve movement and cognition¹. Science-backed hope. It’s just one of the reasons why parents recommend our services.

Seeking a diagnosis of cerebral palsy?

A diagnosis of cerebral palsy can be made for children under 6 months of age. Our fully funded CPA Early Diagnosis Clinics (EDCs) fast track diagnosis and enable quicker access to early interventions, family support and better outcomes for the future.

Our range of supports will help point your child’s neurons in the right direction so they can learn and improve their:
  • Independent mobility

  • Strength, flexibility and endurance
  • Thinking and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of words and language
  • Feeding and dressing skills
  • Balance and coordination

Flexible and convenient services

Depending on your child’s needs, you can access our programs in a range of different ways:
  • Individualised therapy – Giving children time to focus on their goals with a specialist therapist in a one-to-one setting, and in an environment that works best for the family – at home, in the community or at a CPA centre.
  • Group programs – Gives children an opportunity to work on their individual goals with the additional benefits of learning from others and developing play and social skills. Parents also get to meet other parents.
  • Intensive therapy programs – Designed around the principles of neuroplasticity, our individualised and group intensive therapy programs accelerate skill development over a short period of time, and deliver results that are long lasting.
  • Parent training – Parents are often a child’s most important teacher particularly at this young age. CPA offers parent training programs. Our therapists also provide parents with regular support and knowledge so they can continue therapy at home.
