How do teenage siblings of people with long-term health conditions in Australia find information and support?

About the study

Researchers at UNSW want to hear from teenage siblings of people with long-term health conditions, including cerebral palsy, about where they go for information and support, and how they use social media and AI tools (like ChatGPT) to find answers. There isn’t enough research on how siblings in Australia access support, and this study will help create more tailored, relevant resources based on siblings’ real experiences.

Who can participate?

Siblings who are:

  • Aged 12–18
  • Living in Australia
  • Currently living with a brother or sister with a long-term illness, disability, or health condition
  • Able to access a device (mobile phone, iPad, laptop) with internet access

What is involved?

A short, anonymous questionnaire taking around 10 minutes to complete.

Siblings will be asked about

  • where they go for information and support,
  • what kind of support they wish they had,
  • and how they use social media and AI tools (like ChatGPT) to find answers.

Siblings can go in the draw to win one of two $50 gift cards, but their name is never linked to their responses, even if they enter the draw.
