While he values clinical work, it’s the people, both clients and colleagues, who make the experience so meaningful. “I love working here not only for the clients that I get to treat but also how lovely the people are that I get to work alongside.”
When volunteering, Rohan says the focus is simple: helping others. “When you’re volunteering, you’re there completely for the sole reason of helping another human being.”
That mindset shapes how he approaches each client. Rohan is known for going above and beyond to ensure people feel safe, comfortable and respected. “I pride myself on going the extra mile,” he says. Even if it sometimes means adapting how he delivers treatment.
Rohan recalls treating clients outside the traditional clinic setting when they felt too anxious to come inside. Sometimes, he goes outside to the wheelchair-accessible vans to treat clients, so that he can meet them where they feel most comfortable.
Volunteering at CPA has had a lasting impact on Rohan beyond the clinic, strengthening his commitment to giving back and inspiring him to encourage others to do the same.
For Rohan, the experience is as rewarding personally as it is professionally. Volunteering reconnects him with the purpose behind his work and is a reminder of why he chose his profession in the first place. “It really lights a fire within you to want to volunteer more and get others on the volunteering train… You’re needed and CPA would be delighted to have you,” he says.
