Do Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems give people access to the full range of human language, including: swearing, flirting, expressing anger, and other taboo words? Should they be expressed?
A team at Flinders University are exploring the positive functions of taboo words, and the perspectives of AAC users and Speech Pathologists on taboo words within AAC systems.
To explore the communication autonomy of AAC users living within Australia, they have developed two surveys (each 15–20 minutes):
