Cathy Morgan presenting at the AACPDM

CPA Shines at AACPDM 2024 Conference

Our Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) researchers made a big impact at the 2024 American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) conference in October 2024.

Highlights from the conference include Cathy Morgan’s session on accessible cognitive assessments that offered practical insights into making assessments more inclusive. A standout moment was Cathys oral presentation on the GAME (Goal-Directed, Activity-Based Motor Enrichment) program, which sparked plenty of discussions. The findings showcased CPA’s innovative approach to therapy, leaving attendees inspired.

Recognised as cerebral palsy global experts, Professor Iona Novak and Professor Nadia Badawi were prominent throughout the event. Iona also teamed up with Cathy to lead an interactive and well received Early Intervention workshop.

The conference also provided a chance to build global connections. Alicia Spittle, Colleen Peyton, and Nathalie Maitre—all part of Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute (CPARI)—were part of many sessions that strengthened our shared mission to advance research globally.

Israt Jahan and Mahmudul Al Imam, who work with Gulam on global cerebral palsy registers led insightful discussions around ways to use worldwide data to improve outcomes for children and families everywhere.

At the conference dinner, CPA board members Andrew Buchanan and Stuart Comino celebrated the team’s achievements. Their presence highlighted the strong commitment of our leadership to advancing research and supporting our experts on the global stage.

This year’s AACPDM conference was a fantastic opportunity to share CPA’s groundbreaking work, connect with international partners, and drive forward the future of cerebral palsy research and care. From workshops to presentations and informal networking, our researchers demonstrated what it means to lead with passion and purpose.
