In a media release on 18 September 2024, NDIS Minister Bill Shorten announced that platform providers, Support Coordinators, and Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers will soon need to register with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. While this is not a surprising development, it represents one of the biggest changes the NDIS market has seen to date.Â
CPA has been a registered provider since the establishment of the NDIS. We welcome news that other important providers, such as platform providers, Plan Managers, Support Coordinators and Supported Independent Living providers will need to also be registered now, following a recommendation from the NDIS Provider and Workforce Registration Taskforce report. Other changes from the report will take some time with complete registration being done gradually. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission will consult with the disability community in coming months.  Â
Along with other providers and people in the disability community, CPA provided a response to the Taskforce. After considering all feedback, the Taskforce put their recommendations into a report. We agree with the recommendation that all providers should be registered with the Commission, and are interested to hear the government’s response to the other recommendations made. We will keep you updated when we have more information. You can find more information here :Â
