A life changing movement: CPA releases latest Annual Report

Cerebral Palsy Alliance celebrates another year of successfully pushing the boundaries in research, innovation, service delivery and advocacy.

Covering the period from 1 July 2023 to 31 June 2024 the Annual Report’s theme is “A life changing movement” reflecting our brand and fundraising events such as STEPtember.

CEO Rob White said the amazing achievements realised in 2024 continue to cement CPA’s position as a global centre of cerebral palsy expertise.

“As we head into our 80th anniversary next year, we celebrate our capability across evidence-based services, research, advocacy and technology innovations that makes us unique and positions us on a world stage,” said Mr White.

“Our researchers, opinions and practices continue to be sought after and continue to make a positive impact on the global cerebral palsy community.”

At a glance:

  • Delivered world class services to more than 4,500 clients across Therapy, Health and Wellbeing, Accommodation and Respite, Lifestyles and Packforce supported employment.
  • In Research, we continued to pursue clinical trials of stem cells as a potential treatment and cure for cerebral palsy and advanced three studies focused on early detection and intervention in cerebral palsy.
  • Remarkable continues to stimulate the Disability Tech market and create pathways for disability related technology solutions to get to market faster. Over the past 12 months Remarkable has worked with 61 startups and a further 37 Designathon teams. This has seen a significant growth in customers from under 100 to over 18,800.
  • Amplification of awareness and advocacy for change continued in 2024 with the launch of Young Changemakers, a youth advocacy program for people with cerebral palsy aged 18-30. The aim is to build leadership and advocacy skills in challenging political leaders on policy reform for disability inclusion.
  • Fundraising efforts saw more than $7.7million raised through the STEPtember campaign and other key events such as the Krazy Kosci Klimb, The Retreat and The Escape contributed to a further $2,975,000. Additionally, more regular donors were acquired to bring the total to over 37,800.

“For 79 years, we have been driven by our founders’ vision of a future where nothing is impossible for people with cerebral palsy and similar conditions,” said Mr White.
