Fun, Friends and Fitness through Sport

Join us for three action-packed days where you will learn new skills, strengthen your fitness and meet like-minded friends. From Friday afternoon through to Sunday afternoon, you will participate in a variety of sporting activities including football, touch football, basketball, swimming and more. The camp offers activities to suit all sporting interests including kayaking, water polo and fun team challenges.

What does it involve?
  • Activities will be based on skill sessions, modified games, races and matches for all sports
  • Coaching will be provided by experienced CPA staff, volunteers, National CP Football players and elite-level athletes
  • Sports include: football, touch football, basketball, swimming, archery, baseball and more!
  • There will also be water polo, kayaking and fun team challenges 
  • The camp will start on Friday at 4pm and finish on Sunday at 2pm approx

  • Children and young adults aged 10-28 years
  • With cerebral palsy or a similar condition (GMFCS I-II)
  • Who has prior experience in at least one of the sports

Frequently asked questions

Infants 12 months or younger are eligible if they have the following:

  • Clinical history indicating risk for cerebral palsy


Risk factors include (but not limited to) prematurity, birth defects, genetic conditions, intrauterine growth restriction, hypoxia-ischaemia, seizures, neonatal stroke, infection

  • Abnormal neuroimaging-MRI or Cranial Ultrasound (CUS) indicative of possible motor impairment
  • Motor dysfunction

 

This might include abnormal General Movements, very low scores on standardised assessment (e.g. below 10th percentile on AIMS), poor head control after 3 months, hand asymmetry after 4 months, not able to take weight through feet after 5 months, not sitting at 9 months.

Priority will be given to infants who have not previously seen a neurologist.
