Prairiewood- Kindy Kick Start

CPA's Kindy Kickstart program is run by Occupational Therapists (OTs) to support children with a disability who are starting kindergarten in 2022.

Our program consists of fun, age-appropriate activities to help children develop the skills to assist their transition to primary school including :

  • Pre-literacy (recognising sounds, letters and words)
  • Pencil skills (pre-writing, shapes, tracing, writing names)
  • Language skills (listening, following directions and answering questions)
  • Fine motor (managing common school objects such as pencils, lunch boxes, zippers)
  • School life skills (working in a group, managing belongings, dressing skills, canteen orders, asking for help)
  • Concentration, social (taking turns etc.), and self-care

 

DATES: 

Week 1 – 17th -20th Jan 2022

Week 2 – 24th – 25th Jan 2022

TIME:  9.00am - 12.00pm

LOCATION: Cerebral Palsy Alliance, 224/244 Restwell Rd Prairiewood

VOLUNTEER ROLE

  • Work with our clients aged 3-5 years to help them develop the skills required to transition to primary school 
  • Provide support for children with a disability in a group setting
  • Receive support from an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Support our OT to implement a customised program to suit the specific needs of each child

  • Give back to the community by helping children with a disability practise practical, social and communication skills required for kindygarten

  • Receive a certificate of attendance.
