Intensive therapy for children starting school in 2023, aimed at strengthening, fine-tuning or learning new skills to get ready for big school!
Mighty Kids is a functional, activities-based intensive intervention approach designed specifically for children with disabilities.
The program provides 1:1 intensive practice with a therapist, who will adapt and change tasks specifically to your child, to enable long-lasting individual improvements. This constant variable nature of practice enables your child’s skills to be achieved not only in a therapy setting, but also at home, school, or in the community.
What's involved?
- This program runs for 4 consecutive days during the September school holidays, with each child having an individually assigned therapist.
- 12 hours of 1:1 therapy within a group environment.
- A 1hr comprehensive pre-assessment and goal-setting between the child, family and therapist
- The program is designed to further the child’s own goals and develop their skills in preparation for starting school, including fine motor skills, self-care skills, gross motor skills, social and communication goals, and emotional self-regulation.
- A summary program at the conclusion of the week is provided, outlining your child’s support needs at school.
- A service review report for the NDIS of you child’s achievements is prepared in readiness for your next NDIS planning meeting.
Who is this program for?
- Children who are starting Kindergarten in 2023
- Will be attending mainstream schooling placement
- Are able to transition between several activities within a morning
- Are able to participate in group-based activities (with some support) with peers
