For teenagers preparing to start High School
If your child is getting ready for high school, our expert Youth Coaches can work with them to ensure they have the key foundation skills all kids need to start high school with confidence.
Research shows that teenagers who start high school when they’re ready to learn often do better in the classroom.
Our Transition to High School workshop supports teenagers with a disability to develop important skills so they can thrive.
What does this program cover?
Young people are supported to build their confidence and develop survival skills including:
- Emotional resilience
- Making friends
- Navigating changes
- Socialising with others
- Building and maintening positive relationships
- Understanding strategies to deal with bullying
- Learning about Social media
- Personal safety when using the internet
- Hear from peer mentor
The program teaches teenagers how to:
- Recognise a variety of coping strategies for themselves
- Build social skills
- Increase confidence to participate in new activities
- Practice use of problem-solving strategies
- Plan and organise themselves for a day
- Manage their workload
- Understand the principles of emotional independence and increased resilience
