Boost your cooking skills and increase independence

Life Lab – Cooking is a 10-week program which equips young people with the skills they need to work towards an independent future. The program provides hands on practical learning each week to develop skills around budgeting, shopping, money handling, social skills, meal planning and research, meal preparation and cooking, dining etiquette, problem solving and cleaning skills with the support of a trained CPA Youth Coach.

 

Who is this program for?

  • Young people aged 18-32 years
  • All abilities welcome (clients requiring 1:1 personal care or mealtime assistance may incur an extra charge)

 

The program outcomes they'll achieve?

  • Exposed to a variety of foods, cooking equipment and cooking experiences
  • Provided a supportive safe environment to develop confidence in the kitchen
  • Learn new cooking skills including kitchen safety, food handling, navigating recipes, budgeting, shopping and meal planning, cleaning skills and general meal preparations.
  • Increased confidence to encouraged to problem solve, work in a team, communicate with peers, building capacity for an independent future
