Our weekly boccia program is designed for participants who are looking to improve skills and confidence when competing on a national and international level.

The sessions will help participants work on technical skills such as coordination and agility. This program is a great opportunity to strengthen not only your health and fitness but also your social and community participation at all levels of boccia. 

Note: This weekly program runs in line with NSW school term dates.

What does it involve?
  • Various elite-level training activities including skill-building drills, team-building activities, basic fitness, modified and formal games
What are the outcomes?
Who is the program for?
  • Adults aged 18 years and over
  • Participants who have their own high-level equipment and bring a sports assistant who knows boccia well, and will ideally have on-court competition experience 
  • Participants who can follow detailed instructions and have good receptive language skills
  • Participants who can function within a dynamic and challenging group environment focused on high-performance sport

Frequently asked questions

Infants 12 months or younger are eligible if they have the following:

  • Clinical history indicating risk for cerebral palsy


Risk factors include (but not limited to) prematurity, birth defects, genetic conditions, intrauterine growth restriction, hypoxia-ischaemia, seizures, neonatal stroke, infection

  • Abnormal neuroimaging-MRI or Cranial Ultrasound (CUS) indicative of possible motor impairment
  • Motor dysfunction

 

This might include abnormal General Movements, very low scores on standardised assessment (e.g. below 10th percentile on AIMS), poor head control after 3 months, hand asymmetry after 4 months, not able to take weight through feet after 5 months, not sitting at 9 months.

Priority will be given to infants who have not previously seen a neurologist.
