Accessible Swimming Program

An inclusive swimming program that builds confidence in and around the water

Commencing Term 4 (13 October 2025)

Our Accessible Swimming Program supports children and adults with disabilities to build fitness and improve swimming technique in an inclusive environment. From stroke correction to building confidence, this inclusive swimming program is tailored to suit your ability and goals.
Run over 10 weeks, sessions are delivered in small groups or one-on-one with experienced disability sports professionals.
NDIS funding
  • Initial Assessment: Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living (Category 15) or Improved Health and Wellbeing (Category 12)
  • Swimming Program: Self-funded or Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living (Category 15)

What does it involve?

  • Technique enhancement and stroke refinement for all abilities
  • Skill-building for inclusive racing experiences, including school swimming carnivals
  • Water safety and confidence-building exercises
  • Team training and racing to build friendships, boost social connection, and enjoy participating in swimming and friendly competitions.
  • An initial assessment with an Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist to help set your goals, identify any required adaptations, and ensure you can participate fully and enjoy the program.

What are the outcomes?

Who is the program for?

  • Children (7-17 years) and adults (18 – 44 years) of all abilities who want to develop and improve their swimming endurance.

Group Program

  • People with cerebral palsy (GMFCS I – III) or similar disabilities who can swim 25 meters or more, follow instructions and engage in a dynamic group setting for 90 minutes (independently or with support).

Individual Program

  • People with cerebral palsy (GMFCS I – IV) or similar disabilities who can follow instructions and participate in activities for 60 minutes (independently or with  support). 

FAQs

Wear your swimmers and bring: 

  • A towel 
  • A water bottle 
  • Fins and kickboard (if you have them) 

We have spare fins and kickboards available if you don’t have your own yet. 

Swimming is in an indoor venue therefore we continue regardless of weather. On the rare occasion where we may need to cancel (eg. Venue closed, no staff available) we will notify you as soon as possible and there will be no cancellation charge.

If you’re running late and it’s before 5pm, please call our Reception Team on 1300 888 378. 

All staff have access to emergency contact details. If you’re not there at pick-up time, the Allied Health Assistant will call you. 

The Accessible Swimming program is designed to: 

  • Improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance 
  • Enhance coordination, strength, and confidence 
  • Provide a safe, inclusive environment for people who love to swim 
  • Improve stroke technique and speed 

This is not a learn-to-swim program. All participants must already know how to swim.
