This is Lauren. She found her passion working as an Exercise Physiologist at our CPA site in Penshurst, south Sydney. Whatever the milestone, however big or small, Lauren is there to support her clients to improve their quality of life.
“It’s such a rewarding career being an Exercise Physiologist. You always come away with a smile on your face when your clients achieve these small wins. And it’s really about those small wins. Coming into the gym, working on whatever they’re doing, then leaving a lot better than when they came in.”
An Exercise Physiologist, or EP, is an accredited allied health professional who uses evidence-based, targeted exercise to manage disability, chronic conditions and injuries, as well as address lifestyle and behaviour change. An EP can prescribe holistic programs individually tailored to improve physical function, strength, balance, fitness, social participation, as well as confidence performing every day activities.
Exercise Physiologists like Lauren form a crucial part of CPA. Lauren works with other therapists to tackle goals from every angle, transforming aspirations that can seem insurmountable, into empowering experiences.
“CPA offers a multidisciplinary approach. It’s really nice to work with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other disciplines who are also working on our clients’ goals as well.”
Lauren has been there for some of the biggest moments in her clients’ lives. She works with every client in order to form individualised exercise programs so that they can accomplish their goals on their own terms. For example, she trains many clients to undertake the Krazy Kosci Klimb challenge, an event where teams make the journey up Mount Kosciuszko in order to raise funds for people with cerebral palsy.
