the outside of the emergency department of a hospital

Help improve communication in emergency care for teens with CP

Do you have a child aged 12-16 with Cerebral Palsy?
Have they been to the emergency department (ED) at a children’s hospital, at least once in the last 12 months?

Your story can help shape the research for an innovative mobile app, designed to improve the communication experience in the ED.

Mel Tran from Torrens University Australia is currently working on ground-breaking PhD research aimed at improving communication between young people with CP and their doctors/nurses in the emergency department through digital design and technology.

Who can participate?

  • Parents and caregivers of young people with cerebral palsy (12-16 years)
  • Who have visited the emergency department at a children’s hospital at least once in the last 12 months
  • Who used private transport (not emergency services) to get there

What is involved?

  • 45 minute 1:1 virtual interview

The goal?

  • To understand your experiences supporting your child as they navigate the challenges of the emergency department, as well as the opportunities for improvement.

This is an opportunity to share your challenges, your story, and ideas for improvement in how the ED experience can be made more accessible and supportive for families like yours. Your insights will help shape a better experience for young people and their families in the future.
