cpThrive is here: A new app to empower treatment choice for people with cerebral palsy

Cerebral Palsy Alliance is excited to announce the official launch of cpThrive, a first-of-its-kind digital tool designed to support people with cerebral palsy and their treatment journeys, launched initially in Australia and then globally.

The app is now available to download as part of a research study and offers a unique collection of treatment-related resources, designed with and for the CP community. We’re inviting 600 families to take part to help shape the app’s future.

cpThrive provides up-to-date, easy-to-understand information about treatments, developed by researchers and people with lived experience of CP. You can search for treatments based on age, abilities and goals, with treatments colour-coded by evidence strength and supported by short videos.

cpThrive brings together easily accessible, evidence-informed information to help people with cerebral palsy, families and therapists focus on what matters to them- whether at home, at school, or during clinical appointments.

What cpThrive offers

cpThrive has been developed in collaboration with people with lived experience, clinicians and allied health professionals. It provides:

  • Therapy videos from families around the world demonstrating exercises and strategies for everyday movement, communication and participation
  • Clear instructions and visuals to support understanding and independence
  • Evidence-based information that reflects current best practice in CP treatment
  • A resource hub to help users explore different treatment types and approaches

The content is organised in a way that makes it easy to find and use, whether you’re a person with CP, a family member supporting someone’s treatment, or a clinician looking for sharable resources.

Why cpThrive is needed

Therapy is a core part of life with cerebral palsy, and consistent practice and understanding between appointments can make a big difference to outcomes. cpThrive builds on this by providing high-quality, community-informed treatment resources that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

The app fills a gap by offering real-family video demonstrations, empowers choices and reinforces confidence and capability.  Families can explore treatment choices and understand which options are best aligned with their child’s and family’s personal priorities.

Why you are needed

You’re invited to join an exciting research study of this world-first mobile app. If you’re a parent or carer of a child aged 0–17 with cerebral palsy you can be one of 600 families helping shape cpThrive, empowering families to navigate CP treatment choices with confidence.

Participants receive 12 months’ access to the app and help guide its future development. Download the app to learn more and access the study details.
