The PREMSTEM is made possible by €9M (AU$14M) in funding provided by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. PREMSTEM involves an international collective of world-leading clinicians, researchers, stakeholder advocacy groups, and an industry partner, working together to develop a groundbreaking regenerative stem cell therapy.
This innovative approach targets the repair of brain damage caused by premature birth—also known as encephalopathy of prematurity.
Since 2020, CPA has been an integral partner in this initiative, and while our researchers will not be attending in person, Megan Finch-Edmonson is playing a vital role in shaping the conference program.
Megan is helping to organise a session titled “Learnings from Co-Creation: Involving External Stakeholders in Research.” This session will highlight the importance of engaging people with lived experience, parents, and other external stakeholders in shaping research that truly makes a difference.
As long‐standing contributors to PREMSTEM, Megan and Iona Novak have played a crucial role in advancing cerebral palsy research, positioning CPA at the forefront of stem cell and regeneration science. Their ongoing work and leadership are not only instrumental in uncovering new treatment possibilities but also in shaping the future of research collaboration across Europe.
