Over the past two years, the Orange Therapy team has built a consistent and sustainable outreach model to Bathurst, providing weekly speech pathology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy supports both within the community and at a satellite site. This model has made a real difference for families in the region, reducing travel times and improving access to specialised services.
Strong collaboration has been key to the program’s success. The team has developed trusted partnerships with NSW Health, the local paediatrician network, and other key referrers, ensuring families receive coordinated, timely and high-quality care. These partnerships have also helped streamline early intervention pathways, particularly for children at risk of cerebral palsy.
In Bathurst, CPA’s outreach team has worked closely with NSW Health to enhance early intervention support models for children aged 0–2 who are not yet eligible for NDIS funding. Through CPA’s initial funded package, these children can access therapy while waiting for their NDIS plans to be approved—a process that can often take six months or more. This proactive approach means families receive the early support they need, when they need it most.
Beyond Bathurst, the team provides outreach services to Forbes and Parkes, ensuring specialised therapy is available to more families throughout the Central West. The result is reduced wait times, improved outcomes, and stronger connections across regional communities.
The Orange Therapy team is immensely proud to represent CPA in the 2025 Central West Mummy Awards and to be recognised for their ongoing commitment to improving access to therapy and driving better outcomes for people with disabilities across regional NSW.
