Collections Notice - Prospective Employees

These Guidelines relate to the Privacy and Information Security Policy.

What personal information do we collect and why?

Cerebral Palsy Alliance (ABN 45 000 062 288) (CPA) is collecting your personal information (this may include your name, date of birth, contact details including address, telephone numbers and email address, professional experience, education, qualifications, skills, employment situation, eligibility to work in Australia, accessibility requirements relevant to the application process, police or criminal history, personal details disclosed from referees and referee checks, notes taken by us during an interview, information required for the role you have applied for such as current health information, driver’s licence details, working with children or vulnerable persons checks, NDIS Worker Screening Check, compulsory vaccinations, educational, professional or other certifications, memberships, accreditations and registrations) so that we can:

  • process your application and assess your suitability for employment with CPA;
  • contact you;
  • verify your identity;
  • verify the information you have provided to us;
  • manage our relationship with you;
  • address or respond to any requests from you; and
  • consider your suitability for a future role at CPA – if you have been unsuccessful in your application or have otherwise provided your details to express an interest to work at CPA.

We may also use your personal information for purposes related to those described above which would reasonably be expected by you.

We will not use your information for purposes other than those described above unless we have your consent or as permitted by law (including for law enforcement or public health and safety reasons).

If you are successful in your application and CPA has offered and you accept employment with us, this information will form part of your employment record.

Optional information

CPA also collects, at your option, diversity details such as gender and diversity information. This information is used to assist CPA in understanding the demographics of our workforce to meet our commitment as an inclusive employer and does not affect our ability to assess your suitability to work at CPA.

How we collect your personal information

We generally collect personal information directly from you:

  • via CPA’s dedicated recruitment website Workday, hosted and maintained by third-party service provider Workday Australia Pty Limited;
  • when you communicate with us during the recruitment process (e.g. over the phone, via email or in person).

Where it is not practicable to collect personal information from you, we may also collect personal information from publicly available sources of information, and, where you have provided your consent, from third parties such as professional and personal referees (or the organisations they represent) you have supplied to us, recruitment agencies or other third parties assisting us with

the recruitment of the position you are applying for and service providers that facilitate essential pre-employment checks that CPA requires as part of the recruitment process including fit2work Australia, Xref and FPES Australia.

Your referees may provide us with information about you on a confidential basis. If they do, we will not share this information with you without the referee’s consent.

If you do not provide the information requested

If you do not provide us with the personal information we have requested, we may not be able to assess your application for employment.

Sharing your personal information

We may disclose your personal information to our related companies, your referees, contractors providing services to us and to other third-party service providers (such as background screening service providers) we use in conducting our business. Some of these third parties may be located overseas if you have asked us to contact an overseas referee, or if we request an international criminal records check.

Our third-party service providers may store personal information overseas when providing services. You should refer to the third-party service provider’s privacy policy for more details.

We may also disclose your personal information where we are required or authorised by Australian law to do so, such as child protection laws.
