For the final six and a half years of his life, Killaloe House provided connection, stability and belonging. It was a place where John Paul thrived – surrounded by friends, supported by dedicated staff and valued for who he was.
Born in 1969, John Paul grew up during a time when children with disability were often separated from their families and faced limited expectations. Placed into care as a baby, he was supported by foster parents and carers who believed deeply in his potential.
A devoted Tigers fan, Special Olympics competitor, and enthusiastic sportsman, John Paul embraced every opportunity. He worked at Curly Girl, an Australian Disability Enterprise, for over 30 years, travelled independently and was a familiar, welcome face in his community.
When he sadly passed away in 2022, he left a Gift in his Will to Cerebral Palsy Alliance, requesting it benefit the home that had become his extended family.
His bequest funded equipment that continues to enhance daily life for residents and staff – strengthening independence, comfort and opportunity.
