CPAdvance™ launches: Sharing world-leading research to change lives around the globe

For more than 20 years, Cerebral Palsy Alliance has led world-class research, collaborating with researchers, clinicians and people living with CP around the globe to help reduce the rate and severity of CP, improve early diagnosis, and transform the way children and families are supported.

This weekwe’re proud to take the next step in that journey with the launch of CPAdvance™ – a new global training platform designed to ensure the very best clinical evidence reaches the clinicians who work with children and families every day.

Why CPAdvance is important

Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. Research shows that the first two years of life are critical. This is a time when the brain’s natural ability to adapt and change, known as neuroplasticity, is at its strongest. When children receive the right therapy early, outcomes can be significantly improved.

Yet around the world, many allied health professionals don’t have easy access to the latest research or practical training needed to apply it with confidence in real clinical settings. CPAdvance was created to close that gap.

By translating cutting-edge research into practical, accessible learning, CPAdvance helps physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and early intervention specialists to deliver effective early intervention when it matters most – giving children the best possible start and supporting families with evidence-based care.

What is CPAdvance?

CPAdvance™ is now live, with the first release featuring 20 interactive learning modules — the beginning of a first-of-its-kind, evidence-based education platform.

Developed by experts in Australia and around the globe, CPAdvance brings together:

  • real families
  • real clinicians
  • real research
  • and real-world application

The training is video-rich, interactive, and designed so clinicians can apply what they learn immediately in therapy sessions with children aged 0–3 years who are at risk of, or diagnosed with, cerebral palsy or similar neurodevelopmental disabilities.

World-leading expertise, shared globally

CPAdvance is led by some of the world’s most respected CP researchers, under the direction of Professor Iona Novak AM, Professor Nadia Badawi AM, and Dr Cathy Morgan.

Everything taught through CPAdvance is grounded in decades of CPA-led research and global collaboration to ensure clinicians learn approaches that are proven, practical and safe.

Why this matters for families

When clinicians are trained in the latest evidence-based approaches, children and families benefit directly – all around the globe.

CPAdvance means:

  • earlier, more effective therapy
  • greater confidence for clinicians and families
  • care that is consistent with the world’s best research
  • and better outcomes during the most important years of development

By sharing this knowledge globally, the impact extends far beyond the provision of services – helping ensure children with CP, wherever they live, can access care that is informed by the best science available.

A new chapter in CPA’s mission

CPAdvance represents a powerful extension of CPA’s role as a global leader in cerebral palsy research, innovation and impact. It is another way we are turning research into real-world change – not only for the children and families we support directly, but for children in communities around the world.
