New $7 Million Hunter Centre Set to Expand Services for a Growing Region

Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) is proud to announce the development of a new Hunter Centre in Beresfield, marking a major milestone in our commitment to expanding high-quality disability services in the region. The $7 million investment represents a significant step forward in our 2030 Strategy to extend our reach, broaden our impact, and deliver services where they are needed most.

This project has been made possible with the support of $3.38 million in funding from state government, through the Regional Economic Development Grant, recognising the importance of increasing access to therapy, community support and early intervention services for people living with cerebral palsy and related conditions across the rapidly growing Hunter region.

Meeting Community Need in a Region of Growth

The Hunter region continues to experience strong population growth and increasing demand for disability support services. Many families have faced long travel distances or limited local options to access the specialised support their children and loved ones need.

CPA’s investment in the new Hunter Centre reflects our long-term commitment to meeting this growing need. The Beresfield location strengthens our presence in the region, ensuring more families can access the support they need, closer to home.

Supporting Clients, Families and the Broader Community

The new centre will offer access to a wide range of evidence-based therapies, services and programs tailored to babies, children and adults with disability. It will also feature new technologies and equipment designed to support mobility, communication, early intervention and overall wellbeing – helping clients and families lead more independent, fulfilling lives.

In addition to client services, the centre will include a dedicated training space to support the professional development disability sector workers from across the Hunter. This investment strengthens the local workforce and ensures the region benefits from highly skilled practitioners now and into the future.

CPA has been proudly supporting the Hunter community for 42 years, with existing facilities in East Maitland and Croudace Bay.

CPA supports 16 shared living homes in the Newcastle region housing more than 80adults with complex disabilities and supports an additional 80 independent living clients in the region. The Beresfield Centre builds on this long-standing foundation and represents our next chapter of growth, innovation and impact.

The opening of the Hunter region, Beresfield Centre is a key milestone in CPA’s long-term strategy to expand services in high-need regions and deliver greater impact across NSW and the ACT. By strengthening our footprint in the Hunter, CPA is better positioned to support more families, reduce access barriers and continue investing in the next generation of therapy and community support services.
