How Christina Armour helped over 880,000 people globally in ways she may never have imagined.

In August 2019, at the age of 93, Christina Armour left behind a legacy that continues to change lives in ways she may never have imagined. A long-time Vaucluse resident, she was known for her love of golf, her passion for gardening, and her deep sense of generosity.

Though she had no children of her own, Christina carried a vision for the future: to give back to the community she cherished. In her will, she bequested the proceeds of her estate to four charities close to her heart, including Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

Christina’s gift was extraordinary, not just for its scale but for the opportunities it unlocked. Her generosity empowered Cerebral Palsy Alliance to grow a humble grassroots initiative into Remarkable, the pioneering startup accelerator in the southern hemisphere dedicated to harnessing technology to drive inclusion for people with disability.

Since then, Remarkable has supported 166 startups and over 300 founders. Together, those startups have reached more than 880,000 people globally, creating assistive technologies, accessible platforms, and life-changing innovations that enable people with disability to participate more fully in society, from AI-powered communication devices to inclusive design tools, these solutions are shaping a more equitable world.

None of this would have been possible without Christina’s incredible foresight and the collective generosity of people who have left a gift in their will. Her bequest became the spark for an ecosystem of change, where ideas flourish, entrepreneurs are empowered, and people with disability are at the centre of innovation.

Today, her legacy lives on – one idea, one startup, one life transformed at a time, impacting communities across the globe and here at home.
