CPA researchers contribute to prestigious Lancet article highlighting global progress in CP research – with a helpful summary for families

We’re proud to share that Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) has contributed to a significant new article, published in The Lancet, that highlights global progress in cerebral palsy (CP) research and includes a plain language CP summary.

Invited by The Lancet to provide an update on CP, our research team took this opportunity to reflect on the progress in addressing the research priorities that have been identified by people with cerebral palsy and their families around the world.

The culture and work of CPA is based on collaboration with people with lived experience of CP. This article summarises and provides examples of how lived experience is driving scientific research.

By showcasing the achievements of global research and guided by priorities set by people with CP and their families, the article reflects a shift towards more inclusive, meaningful and impactful work in CP.

To make this important information more accessible, the researchers created a plain language summary in the article’s appendix. Designed with families, donors, and community members in mind, the summary explains key findings and progress in simple, engaging language for people learning more about CP.

Thank you to everyone in our global community who has helped shape these research priorities. CPA is honoured to work with those who help to guide the future of cerebral palsy research.
