We kicked off the holidays with a spectacular day at Curl Curl Beach. The sun was shining, the waves were perfect, and the energy was contagious! Students participated in a variety of classic beach games, including nipper’s activities like flag races, captain ball, and water bucket races. There was also plenty of beach cricket and soccer, with everyone diving into the ocean to cool off between rounds. Nick was a standout, showing incredible perseverance as he participated in every activity and even spent an extended period in the pool. It was a fantastic start to our summer program!
Zone Bowling Day is a fan favourite that always brings the excitement. Our students took to the lanes for two rounds of intense bowling, with strikes and spares flying. It was amazing to see each student bring their own technique to the game, while the camaraderie was evident as teammates cheered each other on. Oscar and Dan each walked away with a win, but the real victory was seeing everyone enjoying each other’s company. After bowling, the fun didn’t stop. Our athletes unleashed their competitive spirits in the arcade, with dance battles, car races, air hockey, and basketball hoop competitions. We ended the day back at CPA with a friendly round of sports, capping off a day full of energy and excitement.
The students spent another gorgeous day at the beach, soaking up the sun at Manly Beach. The waves were calling, and everyone answered by taking part in beach volleyball, swimming races, and plenty of beach games. The highlight of the day, however, was the team spirit that shone through in every game, as students cheered each other on with unwavering enthusiasm.
Bounce Cromer once again was the ultimate destination for fun and adventure. Our athletes had a blast as they engaged in a range of activities, from trampolining to rock climbing, high ropes, dodgeball, and more! One of the standout moments came when Lizzy, initially nervous about the high ropes and rock-climbing challenges, mustered up the courage to give them a go. It was inspiring to see her push past her apprehension; showing that courage comes in many forms. As always, the day wrapped up with some spirited games of soccer and cricket, with Leo proving to be a cricket pro by bowling out several of the coaches!
Even through it rained, the athletes were still dedicated to cycling, running and swimming in the hydro pool. They enjoyed a high-energy, fast-paced Twenty 20 tournament, showcasing their skills in a fun and friendly competition. Plenty of laughs. Whether they were cycling, running, or swimming, it was clear that everyone was giving their best effort, making this another exciting day.
Week 2 kicked off with an adventure-filled day at the Basin, accessed by a scenic ferry ride across Pittwater. The view from the upper deck was breathtaking, and once we arrived, the group set up a picnic area before heading out to explore the local wildlife. Wallabies, birds, and even a few goannas made an appearance – much to the delight of our nature enthusiasts. The rest of the day was spent playing cricket, frisbee and swimming, which was a perfect mix of relaxation and activity.
Another day at Bounce Cromer, but this time, we expanded the fun to include both primary and high school students. Everyone had a chance to engage in multiple activities, including trampolining, rock climbing, and dodgeball. Afterward, the students enjoyed a variety of outdoor games, including soccer, cricket, and even some rounds of “cops and robbers.” It was a day that embodied teamwork, bravery, and boundless energy.
What better way to beat the heat than by spending the day at Manly Water Works?! Our athletes had two hours of unlimited water slides, and it was hard to tell who had more fun – the athletes or the coaches! The water works were a thrilling way to start the day, and afterwards, everyone went to Manly Cove Beach to make sandcastles, swim, play beach soccer, and throw frisbees. A special shout-out to Pam, who was transformed into a mermaid by Lizzy and Riarna’s sand-tail creation!
With the wind in our hair, the bike riding day started at Narrabeen Lake then off to Manly Dam for a thrilling adventure. Athletes got to explore local trails, pushing themselves to pedal through new paths while enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was a great mix of exercise, exploration, and friendly competition.
With the temperature soaring to 37°C, our plans to walk to the lighthouse changed. Instead, we enjoyed a shorter, but equally scenic walk around Palm Beach’s Bay side to North Palm Beach. Along the way, we were treated to a surprise celebrity sighting – the Home and Away film crew was in town! After our walk, we cooled off at the pool and played games like piggy in the middle and catch. To beat the heat, we spent the afternoon back at Allambie head office playing basketball, rebound net, and soccer.
Our final adventure of the holidays was spent exploring Narrabeen Lake. Kayaking, swimming, cricket, soccer and hiking were just some of the exciting activities that kept everyone active throughout the day. It was the perfect way to end an action-packed summer program. Â
As we reflect on these incredible days filled with laughter, challenges, and unforgettable memories, we want to thank all our athletes for their enthusiasm and teamwork. It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of sports and outdoor activities to bring people together, build confidence, and create lasting friendships.
