Kickstart your career in the disability sector

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is increasing the number of people receiving these services as well as creating new jobs and opportunities for workers. 

NSW fee-free Initiative

Fee Free is a NSW and Commonwealth government initiative to support vocational training and skills development across NSW. 

Training in priority qualifications is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments.

Fee-free places may be available for full qualification courses for job seekers and existing workers looking to upskill or reskill in the disability sector. Fee-free places are limited and are not guaranteed.

Please note that access to NSW Fee Free places is strictly limited and is subject to:

  • availability of a NSW Fee Free place
  • commencing training a NSW Fee Free priority course before 31 December 2026
  • meeting the student eligibility requirements below.

Who is eligible?

Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:

  • an entitlement to government-subsidized training up to and including Certificate III
  • government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

 

Under Skills NSW, you may be able to study a fee-free course if you are:

  • 15 years old or over
  • no longer at school
  • living or working in NSW
  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen.
