The centre came alive with therapy demonstrations, tours, live entertainment, face painting, balloon sculptures, a magician, speeches, a plaque unveiling and, of course, cake. More importantly, it was an opportunity to celebrate the people at the heart of everything we do – the children, adults and families who will benefit from having specialist support closer to home.
For more than 40 years, CPA has proudly supported the Hunter community. As the region continues to grow, so too does the need for accessible, specialist disability services. The new Hunter Centre represents our long-term commitment to meeting that need, ensuring more people can access the services they need throughout every stage of life.
Purpose-built with accessibility, innovation and collaboration in mind, the Hunter Centre brings together evidence-based therapies, early intervention, community programs, assistive technology and specialist equipment under one roof. It also provides dedicated spaces for our Early Diagnosis Clinic and professional training, helping strengthen the disability workforce across the region.
Speaking at the opening, CPA Chair Andrew Buchanan reflected on the significance of the milestone.
“This centre is not just a building. It is a long-term commitment by CPA to the Hunter – ensuring more families can access the support they need, closer to home, and that the region has the skilled workforce to deliver it.”
The celebration also recognised the many people who helped make the new centre possible, including our clients and families, generous donors, dedicated staff, community partners and supporters who have shared our vision for the future.
The Hunter Centre embodies our commitment to providing Local Lifelong Support – supporting babies, children, teenagers and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to achieve their goals, close to where they live.
Whether you’re seeking early intervention, therapy services, equipment, community programs or support throughout adulthood, we’re excited to welcome you to our new home.
If you weren’t able to join us for the opening, we’d love to show you around. Contact our team to learn more about our services or arrange a tour of the Hunter Centre.
