Brooke makes an impact through leadership, learning and connections

Working at Cerebral Palsy Alliance isn’t just a job for Brooke. It’s a journey of growth, learning and making a difference.

“I’m a House Manager at Cerebral Palsy Alliance and I love that every day I go to work. I’m surrounded by amazing people and get to make a difference in their lives.”

Brooke’s journey into disability support started unexpectedly. While working as a nanny for children with childhood dementia, she often passed CPA’s head office. When she was looking for a new role that offered more hours and flexibility, she saw a position advertised for a Disability Support Practitioner at CPA and applied.

Reflecting on becoming a Disability Support Practitioner, Brooke says: “I quickly fell in love with it and the people I met and got to work with every day. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but as soon as I started here, I knew this was the place for me.”

With the guidance of a strong mentor, Brooke found support, encouragement, and the opportunity to advance her career.

“My manager was phenomenal. She mentored me, supported me, and made sure I felt confident in my role. A few years later, she helped me take the next step to become a House Manager.”

Now, as a leader, Brooke takes pride in mentoring her own team and she values the deep connections she builds with clients and their families.

Brooke is also passionate about inclusion and has been a part of CPA’s LGBTQIA+ working group for several years.

“There aren’t many organisations that are this committed to diversity. They want to make sure CPA is as welcoming as possible for everyone, and I think that’s amazing.”

Brooke believes disability support is a rewarding career for anyone looking for purpose and direction.

“If you’re feeling lost… come work in disability. You’ll meet incredible people, learn things you’d never learn anywhere else, and [you can] make an impact.”

With industry-leading training and a supportive community, CPA is the perfect place to start – or advance – your career.

“You don’t need experience. You don’t need prior knowledge. You just need the drive to make a difference. If you have that, CPA will help you do the rest.”
