Today, he helps shape the next generation of therapists through training, resource development and introducing new research and technology – reflecting a career defined by hard work, continuous learning and growth.
A big part of Rex’s enjoyment in his work comes from helping children move in ways that feel playful, motivating and meaningful. One of the most impactful programs he delivers is Frame Running Group, a fun and social program that helps children improve fitness, mobility and confidence using specially designed running frames.
For Rex, the value of this program is clear, as many of his clients spend a lot of their time in wheelchairs. “I knew frame running was something that my clients needed to be doing… it allows kids to just be able to freely move, run, play games, make it fun, they can actually enjoy movement rather than feel like its therapy.”
Rex sees the transformation extend beyond physical gains, as relationships flourish between children, parents and families sharing the experience. “When you hear those stories come from clients, it just makes it all worth it.”
Each day brings new challenges and excitement. It’s this variety that fuels Rex’s commitment to making a difference for his clients and the CPA community. He loves what he does and his desire to help people motivates him to deliver care that can “change people’s lives”.
Rex credits CPA’s investment in his development as a major contributor to his growth and confidence as a clinician and educator. “There’s so much training. I don’t think that there is any other place that would offer this level of training with such world class research to back what we do.”
Reflecting on his career so far, Rex sums it up perfectly: “The work here is just so dynamic and challenging, it will make you grow and evolve and you’ll be supported along the way. You get to be involved with projects and programs that otherwise you wouldn’t be involved with.”
He encourages others aspiring to a career in allied health to consider joining CPA. “If you want to be an expert in the area, it’s a no-brainer to come work here. You’ll love it.”
From new graduate to respected clinical educator, Rex’s journey with CPA embodies passion, dedication and excellence at its heart – and his journey is still unfolding.
