SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMS – Allambie, Prairiewood & Kingswood (Sep & Oct ’23) 

CPAs school holiday programs support our young clients with therapy goals, life skills and equipment support. If you’re an allied health student, a volunteer role like this will help you to gain skills and provide hands-on experience that will be invaluable when you’re ready to take on your first professional role. You will be supported by experienced therapists and will be working directly with our clients.

EARLY LANGUAGE GROUP – KINGSWOOD – 4 day program on 26/9, 28/9, 3/10 & 5/10    8:30AM-12MD 

A program working with children under the age of 2 and their parents to support early language development through play based early language stimulation and interaction strategies. Volunteers will support the facilitation of the group focusing on educating parents around early language strategies using Hanen language principles. After the group you will be supporting the speech team to create Nuffield resources. This is a unique opportunity to learn from experienced speech pathologists. 

* Suitable for Speech Pathology and other Allied Health Student 

 

BIKE RIDING INTENSIVE – KINGSWOOD 4 day program on 25/9, 28/9, 3/10 & 5/10    8:30AM-11:00AM 

An intensive bike riding without training wheels group for children aged between 4-6 years. It will involve specific targeted skill development related to riding a bike without training wheels focusing on skills like gliding, steering and maintaining balance on a bike. Volunteers will be involved in providing one-to-one close stand-by support, encouraging and motivating clients as they learn these complex skills. Volunteers will have the opportunity to build rapport with children, liaise with the physio to discuss collaborative intervention ideas for clients and gain hands on experience in neurological physiotherapy.

READY, SET, KINDY! INTENSIVE – ALLAMBIE – 2nd October to 6th October 2023 (various times) 

Preparing kids for the transition to primary school across a range of areas including fine motor skills (early handwriting, cutting), social skills (sharing, taking turns, and waiting), attention skills (listening, following instructions and routine) and literacy skills. 

*  Suitable for Allied Health students 

 

TREASURE ISLAND – PRAIRIEWOOD – 25th September to 5th October 2023 8:30am – 3:30pm 

Treasure Island CIMT is an intensive 9 day program for children with hemiplegia or monoplegia. CIMT, or Constraint Induced Movement Therapy leverages the latest research around neuroplasticity of the brain and is delivered in fun, play-based, pirate themed activities and games that are designed to engage and strengthen the child’s affected arm 

* Suitable for Allied Health students 

 

RACERUNNING – KINGSWOOD – 25th September to 6th October 2023 (various times) 

Frame Running (Race Running) is an innovative sport for people of all ages with a disability who have impaired balance and are unable to functionally run. Participants have an opportunity to try Frame Running for the first time. Frame Running provides each individual the freedom to move and run in a supported and balanced way without a walker, wheelchair or similar device. 

* Suitable for physio and Exercise Physiology students 

 

POWER MOBILITY – KINGSWOOD – 25th September to 29th September 2023 9:00am – 4:30pm 

The power chair intensive is an opportunity for clients to increase/develop their skills in their power chair as well as assess and trial equipment that will best meet their mobility needs. Volunteers will assist the Physio and OT team delivering this program 

* Suitable for physio, OT and Exercise Physiology students 

 

MULTI-SPORTS High School program – ALLAMBIE – 25th to 29th September, 2023 9:00am – 4:00pm

CPA’s Multi-Sports school holiday program offers the opportunity for high school students to learn and develop a range of new sports skills, explore new adventures, make likeminded friends and have fun in an inclusive and friendly environment. 

* Suitable for anyone interested in sports over the age of 18 

 

MULTI-SPORTS Primary School program – ALLAMBIE  – 3rd to 5th October, 2023 9:00am – 12md 

CPA’s Multi-Sports school holiday program offers the opportunity for primary school students to learn and develop a range of new sports skills, explore new adventures, make likeminded friends and have fun in an inclusive and friendly environment. 

* Suitable for anyone interested in sports over the age of 18
