An update on CPA day activities

Dear CPA clients, families and representatives,

In late March, CPA and a number of other day program providers ceased to deliver centre-based and community-based services in response to the social distancing advice of the Australian Government.

As a result, the Lifestyles and Accommodation teams within CPA mobilised to offer day supports to all clients living in CPA group homes.
Supporting our clients to achieve their goals and interests during the COVID-19 restrictions has been a pleasure. Here are some of the many programs and activities that have been available for clients to participate in:
• Utilising technology to participate in interactive games, education, virtual concerts and tours of worldwide museums and international destinations.

• Staying connected by Skyping with family and friends to say hello and share their creations and experiences.

• Friendly competitions across CPA homes for bake-offs, crazy hat and shirt challenges, as well as trivia.
• Group music sessions and concerts to enjoy the talented musicians across the homes and learn new skills.
• Planting new vegetable gardens for enjoyment and produce for the kitchen, which can be included in themed cooking programs.

• Programs focusing on health, mindfulness and mobility including meditation, story-telling, drama group and gentle exercise classes.

We have thoroughly enjoyed providing these daytime supports to clients within CPA homes, and the feedback from both staff and clients has been very positive. Meeting new people, building relationships and exploring new opportunities together has been a great experience for all.
If you would like further information on the activities that your family member or client has been participating in, or are interested to know more about our in-home, community-based and centre-based programs (that will be available once normal services resume), please contact your Client Services Consultant (CSC) on 1300 888 378, or email ask@cerebralpalsy.org.au
