Bringing the park and fun in nature to you!

CPA in collaboration with Centennial Parklands are bringing the parks to you these spring school holidays. Their experienced parkland educators will host live sessions online (including Bush School), providing fun and educational activities for the whole family to try in your own backyard or local park. Helpful activity resource guides are also provided where needed.

 

What does this program involve?

Monday 20 & 27 September: Bushrangers Online

  • Shelter Challenge! - Children will understand the foundations of building both a Tarp Shelter and Debris Shelter. This program will spark their imaginative cubby building skills.
  • Tracks, Trails & Treasure Hunt - Children will use their skills of investigation to identify some of their feathered and furry neighbours found in our parklands and in your neighbourhoods.

 

Tuesday 21 & 28 September: Bush Chef Online

  • Fire, Damper, Butter & Jam  - Join our 'Wild Chef' Ranger Alasdair who will show you how to make a safe fire to cook up some delicious campfire dishes.
  • Make a Green Omelette - Join our 'Wild Chef' Ranger Alasdair online for a morning of foraging, selecting, and cooking.

 

Wednesday 15, 22, 29 September & 6 October: Bush School

  • Bats Big and Small - Learn about the different kinds of bats we commonly see and hear in Sydney.
  • Whales - Learn about the very special journey the Humpback Whale makes at this time of year.
  • Wanda the Wallaby - Find out what it's like to be an animal in your local area.
  • Tracking - Get to know the animals who live in our neighbourhood by learning the art of tracking!

 

Thursday 23 & 30 September: Online Theatrical performance

  • Snugglepot & Cuddlepie - This online adaptation captures a scene from the iconic Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

 

Friday 24 September & 1 October: Bush Craft

  • Make your own Cordage - Learn how to make strong rope from natural materials from your home or vacation care centre this school holidays.
  • Whittling - Learn the ancient art of whittling – carving from wood.

  • Young people aged 7-18 years
