If your child is getting ready for high school, our expert Youth Coaches can work with them to ensure they have the key foundation skills all kids need to start high school with confidence.
Research shows that teenagers who start high school when they’re ready to learn often do better in the classroom.
Our Transition to High School intensive program supports teenagers with a disability to develop important skills so they can thrive.
What does this program cover?
Young people are supported in a three-day workshop to build their confidence and develop survival skills including:
- Emotional resilience
- Making friends
- Navigating changes
- Socialising with others
- Understanding strategies to deal with bullying
- Learning about Social media
- Personal safety when using the internet
The program teaches teenagers how to:
- Understand self and recognise different perspectives
- Increased social skills
- Increased ability in creating conversation and also entering conversations
- Respond to challenges and participate in new activities
- Plan and implement tasks and make decisions
- Increased Emotional Independence and increased resilience
Who’s the program for?
- Young people aged 12-13 with a disability who are preparing to start High School
How is this program delivered?
This program is offered as a 3 day intensive.
Where can you access this program?
Transition to High School is available at Allambie and Prairiewood sites in NSW for 3 days from 20-22 January 2020
