Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. To assist people living with cerebral palsy, parents, carers, allied health and medical practitioners we have developed Cerebral Palsy Treatment Guides that provide information based on the latest research evidence from our Cerebral Palsy Research Institute and across the world about the interventions that are most effective.

The guides can be used to support your conversations with funding agencies, support coordinators, service providers, and therapists, to make sure that a person with cerebral palsy gets the right intervention, at the right time, and in the right amount. This information will support you to confidently choose interventions and services supported by high quality evidence.

The guides are organised into age groups and provide information about a range of different needs your child may have across their life journey.

As your child gets older, you will find information about the most effective ways to promote motor function, mobility, learning, communication and social skills, as well as how to manage secondary conditions (e.g. pain, muscle tone, musculoskeletal issues, sleep, epilepsy, hips).

Bring the guides along to your next appointment and start and conversation about what will work for your child.

Teenager and adult Cerebral Palsy Treatment Guides will be available in 2022.
